Digital version of the Ore

Project aim
To facilitate MA students with linguistic and philological research by making available a digital version of the so called Ore Manuscript. This document is like a Stone of Rosetta for some South American languages, of which it contains translations.

Project output
The main output will be an Access Database, in which single words are presented with their Spanish translation and with cross-references to other languages. Furthermore, a web-application will be developed which will contain an interactive, searchable version of the Ore.

Project partners
To add extra parts to the database, cooperation with other universities will be needed. These include Universität Bonn/Sterling (with research in the area of early colonial liturgical texts) and Oslo University (Mochica and expertise in the field of missionary linguistics). Experts of these universities have agreed to cooperate wholeheartedly in this project to help promote the manuscript internationally as well as providing students with an opportunity to have access to a normally closed corpus.
